On a recent 'man trip' with some h.s. friends Chris rolled a 4 wheeler and did this to his ear as well as break his collar bone. The white spot in the middle region of his ear is exposed cartilage. The plastic surgeon wants to wait until the skin around it heals a little more before he does a graft over it. The next appt with him is on Mon so we'll wait and see. This past Monday (yesterday) they took out the exterior stitches.
The collar bone was a clean break and the separation made it necessary for them to do surgery to put in a plate connecting and stabilizing the two ends. Now Chris feels a whole lot better :) minus the ear. I'll be super happy when he can lift things again because a very pregnant person, like myself, would rather not lift heavy things.

I hope you don't mind, but I used this picture when I gave my you'd-better-wear-a-helmet talk to the cub scouts. Apparently it worked so well for the Bear Den that the cub master has asked me to give the same talk to the whole pack.
Of course, having all girls, that last sentence isn't going to make sense to you for another 8 years. Congrats on the new bundle o' joy, by the way!
That is awesome Brock! Tell those boys also how much comfort a priesthood blessing can give when accidents happen--no matter if you thought you were prepared or not. I know that through it all and especially his regrets for not wearing his helmet he has been super blessed and we know it is because of the priesthood blessing of healing that he received. Safety and preparedness would not be complete without worthiness to hold the priesthood. I'll post a pic soon of the healed ear--it is very beautiful.
